The Samadhi Center is located in a very quiet corner of Ontario, just south of Algonquin park, nestled among several hundred acres of beautiful forest and bordered by the Little Mississippi River. We are very conscious of the beneficial effects of being in nature and have made sustainable operations our priority. To this end, the Samadhi Center building is an off-grid solar powered building with a geodesic growing dome on site. The synergies between the natural environment and the meditation retreats we hold helps to connect participants with their inner stillness.
The Samadhi Center was founded by Daniel Schmidt as an outer reflection of his inner world.
His own inner guidance led him to create the Center as a space for meditators to gather and
awaken to their true nature.
Daniel has been practicing meditation and self inquiry for over 20 years and has been teaching meditation for 10 years, and draws on many different traditions in his teachings. Daniel is the
creator of the award-winning film "Inner Worlds Outer Worlds" as well as the ongoing
"Samadhi" series. Most recently he released a series of guided meditations and teachings
as a practical guide to realizing Samadhi. His approach combines self-inquiry with traditional meditation so that participants have the opportunity to realize their transcendent nature, as well as to realize an ever-deeping development process within the self structure.
Tanya is whole-heartedly committed to the path of awakening, both through meditation and in day to day life. She has practiced meditation for over 15 years and was certified in 2011 to teach meditation and yoga to both adults and children. Tanya is especially passionate about sharing the wonderful world of meditation with children, and is thrilled to facilitate the children's programs at the Center.
She is an integral part of the Samadhi Center's vision of offering a welcoming community for those on their journey, and sees her role in serving and supporting all visiting meditators as a wonderful opportunity for deepening her own inner exploration.
Nicolas Greco has always been fascinated by the interactions between the psychological and physiological, which lead to his training as a physiotherapist in 1967. Since then he has tirelessly conducted clinical work, engaged in personal study, and worked one-on-one with countless clients to better identify and understand the development process of psychosomatic illnesses and the circulations of energy in the body. For the last 50 years, he has worked and studied in several countries, now lives in Quebec, Canada and speaks French, English, Italian, Spanish, and Arabic. He takes every moment of life as an opportunity to engage in further research and investigation, always refining his knowledge on energy and how to work with it on different levels. Today, his practise is concentrated on unlocking blockages and cleaning the energy of the body, mind, and spirit.
