At the Samadhi Center we serve the cleanest (mostly) organic foods possible. Some people find that during the first few days of a retreat their body goes through a detox period as it adjusts to the new diet. We recommend doing a detox before you come to the retreat so that you can more easily jump into meditation without the added challenges of going through a detox.
Before attending a meditation retreat it is helpful to have a general understanding about meditation and the techniques we will be using. The stronger your practice beforehand, the better. Here are some resources that you may find helpful, whether you are getting started in meditation, or you are interested in deepening your meditation practice. This series of guided meditations is focused on the breath. It is designed to cultivate the concentration and equanimity needed to realize Samadhi. The parts are not separate meditation techniques, but part of one evolving, continuously deepening practice of observing the breath.
