The Samadhi Center is located in a very quiet corner of Ontario, just south of Algonquin park, nestled among several hundred acres of beautiful forest and bordered by the Little Mississippi River. We are very conscious of the beneficial effects of being in nature and have made sustainable operations our priority. To this end, the Samadhi Center building is an off-grid solar powered building with a geodesic growing dome on site. The synergies between the natural environment and the meditation retreats we hold helps to connect participants with their inner stillness.
The Samadhi Center was founded by Daniel Schmidt. Daniel has been practicing meditation and self inquiry for over 20 years, and draws on many different traditions in his teachings. Daniel has been teaching meditation for 8 years and is the creator of the award-winning film "Inner Worlds Outer Worlds" as well as the ongoing "Samadhi" series. Daniel's self exploration lead him to create the Samadhi Center as an outer reflection of his inner world.
After practicing various meditation techniques for over 10 years, Tanya committed to making meditation her 'full time job' in 2013. She whole-heartedly participates in the Samadhi Center's vision of offering a welcoming community for those on the path to awakening, and sees her role in serving and supporting all visiting meditators as a wonderful opportunity for deepening her own inner exploration.
